Six steps to your first finished piece
Everything laid out from start to finish, no clicking required.
Unbox and sort
Lay out your canvas, diamond bags, pen, wax, and tray. Check that your diamond colors match the symbol key printed on your canvas before you begin.
Flatten the canvas
Canvases often arrive rolled. Place a few flat, heavy books on top for an hour, or gently roll it in the opposite direction, before you start placing diamonds.
Load your pen
Press the tip of your diamond painting pen into the wax. Just enough to lightly coat the tip; too much wax makes diamonds hard to release later.
Place your diamonds
Pick up a diamond with your pen and press it onto its matching numbered or symbol section. Keep it flat and facing the same direction as the others.
Work in small sections
Only peel back a small section of the protective film at a time, so the adhesive doesn't dry out or collect dust before you get to it.
Seal and display
Once finished, press firmly across the whole canvas to set every diamond. Sealant is optional but adds extra protection before framing or hanging.
How long will it take?
Pick a size to see a rough estimate for casual, relaxed crafting.
Estimates only. Actual time depends on design detail and how often you work on it.
Common mistakes to avoid
A few small things that make a real difference to your finished piece.
Using too much wax
A thick layer makes diamonds hard to release and can leave residue on the canvas.
Uncovering the whole canvas at once
Exposed adhesive collects dust and loses stickiness before you get to it.
Mixing up similar colors
Always check the symbol, not just the color, since some shades look nearly identical.
Skipping the final press
Pressing firmly across the finished canvas keeps every diamond secure long term.
Quick questions
How do I seal a finished diamond painting?
Use a diamond painting sealant, applied lightly and evenly with a soft brush or sponge across the entire canvas. Let it dry fully before framing or handling.
How do I frame a diamond painting?
Mount the canvas onto stretcher bars or a frame insert, keeping it taut and flat, then frame as you would any piece of art. Some kits include a ready frame option.
How do I use a diamond painting pen?
Dip the tip lightly in wax, press it onto a diamond to lift it, then place the diamond onto its matching symbol on the canvas and press gently to secure it.
Is diamond painting for beginners actually easy?
Yes. Beginner kits use simpler designs with larger sections, so the whole process is easy to pick up even on your very first piece.
What if I run out of a diamond color?
Contact us with your order number and the color code from your canvas legend. We'll send the missing diamonds at no cost.
